Federal Land Bank of South Alabama Going Strong in Uncertain Economic Times
Considering the volatility that we have witnessed in the general economy lately, it is easy for us to focus on the difficulties we each face rather than all the good things happening around us. So, let me point out one of those good things.
Times like this are when I am extra proud to work for the Federal Land Bank Association of South Alabama. When markets become volatile, the lending risk increases, and commercial lenders often back away from agriculture and rural America. But Farm Credit never will. The Farm Credit System was created by Congress in 1916 and was given a mission to be a reliable source of financing for agriculture and rural America. We have fulfilled that mission for more than 90 years, and it becomes even more significant in times like these. Creditworthy borrowers throughout rural America will always have access to credit through the Farm Credit System and this association.
Your board of directors and employees of this association are committed to the agriculture industry and to the rural communities in our territory. Whether you are buying recreational property and farmland or financing improvements and facilities, our loan programs are structured and developed with our customers in mind. We understand the unique needs of agriculture and rural lending. Plus, we are fully aware that, because we are a cooperative, it is you — our customers — who own our business.
During the past year, we have hosted customer appreciation events so that we can acknowledge the choice you made to do business with this association. We will make these annual activities for each of our branch offices, but the best way we can create value for you is to provide you with a competitive product and outstanding service. And, as we generate profits, we share those directly with you through our patronage program. Value like that is hard to beat.
Once again, we thank you for your business and remind you that we are here for you. If we can help you in any way, call or come in for a visit today. We look forward to serving you.
Sincerely,
Douglas Thiessen
